Welcome back beauties!
I have recently jumped onto the Yes To bandwagon,
a brand from the US which promotes nature-infused beauty products, each internal
line aimed at specific skin concerns. My face has been suffering from
certain degrees of insomnia, fatigue and the [extremely] changeable
weather - and thought the 'cucumbers' range for sensitivity could be a
saviour of sorts. I have been using this Daily Calming Moisturiser for
around 3 weeks now, reaching for it both day and night - so do carry on
below for an in-depth review of this little hidden treasure!
First glance
A simple, humble plastic design with a hygienic cap - what's not to like? It contains 50ml of product, which does not seem like a huge volume for its RRP of £11.99, but luckily the rich consistency helps it go that little bit further (and hey ho, let's just stock up on the 1/3 off sale at Boots on right now...). The moisturiser is of a thick gel-cream texture, and smells feintly of, you guessed it: cucumbers!
Ingredients
95% of the ingredients are 'natural', and 7/12 out of the recognisably vegetarian ones are organically certified (marked with *).
(Order of high to low content)
Sweet almond oil
Shea butter
Aloe leaf juice
Cocoa tree seed butter
Olive tree fruit oil *
Jojoba seed oil
Rosemary leaf extract *
Cucumber fruit extract *
Sweet almond fruit extract *
Olive tree leaf extract *
Broccoli extract *
Spinach leaf extract *
This list I have to say is, pretty impressive. Full of antioxidants and essential vitamins to maintain a nourished, healthy epidermis. You may have noticed that the namesake cucumber is actually fairly low down - this is probably due to its lack of moisturising properties, which are made up by the rich oils from the likes of shea and sweet almond.
My main qualm is the (albeit extremely small) addition of alcohol and perfume at the end of the ingredients, which are not considered suited for particularly sensitive skin. So if yours is extremely reactive, I would suggest to use a tester first.
Application & performance
The extremely smooth texture allows this to glide on effortless across the skin. It sinks in very easily, and I usually build up two thin layers to make sure my face and neck are both hydrated and protected for the rest of the day/night. A little goes a long way too, so I would say this is definitely worth the pricetag - one tube will last around 2-3 months.
I have found that this is the only cream which has aided the healing process of old and new blemishes. It has a slight cooling feeling, and does not enhance redness or soreness upon application whatsoever. What sets this apart from other moisturisers I've tried out, is the immediate suppleness and certain 'bounciness' it gives my skin. In due course, it has calmed a significant amount, and has not been drying out during college or overnight - the only thing is my face can get a little shiny throughout the day, so this is probably not suitable for very oil skinned beauties!
No shine or greasy residue. Also note the dispensed amount covered the ENTIRETY of my hand o_O |
Claims to fame?
"To help keep sensitive skin supple" - YES and yes again. Never have felt more supple!
"To help calm and hydrate" - both absolutely on point.
"Delights your skin with an extra dose of proteins and nutrients to
purify and regenerate your complexion - while enhancing its natural
healthy glow with gentle, fast-absorbing hydration" - after using this at night, it has definitely helped giving my skin back its inner glow, as well as helped clear it from acne.
Final thoughts
This is THE perfect moisturiser to take anyone with normal, sensitive or combination-dry skin into the colder, drier autumn months. Get on it people! ;D
